THE METALS

KNOW YOUR
MATERIAL.

Different metals. Different characteristics. A clearer understanding of the load helps shape a better next step.

01 / FERROUS METALS

STEEL. IRON.
INDUSTRIAL
FOUNDATIONS.

Ferrous material includes steel and iron, often arising from fabrication, construction, manufacturing and clearance work.

A load might contain cut sections, sheet offcuts, structural pieces or mixed ferrous scrap. The size, condition and presence of other materials all matter when discussing handling.

Useful details to provide

Approximate quantity, the largest dimensions, whether sections are loose or bundled, and any attached non-metal components.

02 / NON-FERROUS METALS

DIFFERENT
PROPERTIES.
REAL POTENTIAL.

Aluminium, copper, brass and other non-ferrous metals each have their own characteristics and possible onward uses.

Keeping identifiable types separate where possible supports a clearer assessment. Mixed alloys, coatings and attachments should be explained when describing the load.

Useful details to provide

The metal type or grade if known, whether it is a single material or a mixture, and photographs showing its condition.

03 / MIXED METAL LOADS

EVERY MIX
DESERVES A
CLOSER LOOK.

Mixed loads need a clear description before a suitable movement or receiving arrangement can be agreed.

Metal waste can include fasteners, insulation, plastics and other attachments. Be specific about what is included, especially when material has come from more than one source.

Useful details to provide

Describe the main materials and their approximate proportions. Highlight anything you are unsure about rather than assuming it will be accepted.

MATERIAL ACCEPTANCE

LET’S UNDERSTAND
THE LOAD FIRST.

The examples on this page introduce common metal categories. They are not a blanket acceptance list. Availability, material condition and the receiving requirements are confirmed for each enquiry.
